“We want to make the world just a little bit better with a nice group of people.” Says Roel van den Berg, Founder and CEO at Autarco, international supplier of solar power systems for companies and individuals. Autarco offers a total solution for solar power under one brand. Which is unique, as the market purely consists of component manufacturers.
Autarco has naturally plenty of energy. From the start of the company, the focus was on the business, and it really took off in 2012. Customers call non-stop. Which is great, but Van den Berg also notices that he has insufficient insight in his primary processes. Dangerous for a young company that has to make efforts to gain the trust of customers who have been doing business with their competitors for years. “Our products from the plant in China were good, and our Unique Selling Position was clear, but when you fail to meet your promises, you immediately lose their trust.” It is also hard to approach investors when you lack insight into your own stock position. Autarco was still using Excel sheets at that point, which clearly needed to change. Van den Berg looked at ERP systems, and was referred to NetSuite by a colleague in China. He wanted to work from the Cloud, and therefore preferred a Cloud-based ERP system. Colleagues in Eindhoven, London and China also needed to use it, and he did not want to depend on a server in Eindhoven. The fact that NetSuite is web-based was also an advantage, as the own IT platform could be connected to it.
Van den Berg found Fast Four through Google. There was an immediate connection between him and Hylke Sluis, the Fast Four CEO. “The sense of ‘we're both entrepreneurs', not being difficult, and the fresh, innovative approach immediately appealed to me,” says Van den Berg. Fast Four had a great number of ideas for simple solutions that work worldwide and can also be used on mobile phones. Van den Berg: “It was a very different feeling from the traditional, stuffy ERP suppliers.” The Fast Four team visited Autarco for a day for the intake. Fast Four quickly learned what Autarco does, and how they do it, in detail. The installation of the system was completed within one month. The primary processes at Autarco are now transparent. Van den Berg: “We can now control them, and have an overview. This gives a peace of mind.” And not just that, as NetSuite allowed Autarco to achieve significant growth. We first worked with just the two of us, but we now have 18 employees in the Netherlands, and 15 around the world. “Our turnover has grown 300%, and NetSuite has proven to be a very important factor.” Van den Berg is very enthusiastic about NetSuite and Fast Four: “I am extremely satisfied with it, and I would recommend it to anyone.”
